2019 grading schedule

Dates have been set for all our 2019 grading sessions. Place them in your calendar today!

Registration details are also available on our How to join our club page.

Important notes

  • All Marist College students who wish to play football are asked to attend grading.
  • We recommend you review our Grading Policy if you have any questions or need explanations. All players and families are also encouraged to be familiar with our other club policies.
  • Every effort has been made with the grading days/times to accommodate prospective players who participate in Marist College summer sports. We are also working around other oval bookings, and are hoping to avoid the likely hot daytime conditions.
  • All grading sessions will last for no longer than 90 minutes, including drink breaks.
  • Players should be registered with Marist Canberra FC by the grading date.
  • Attendance at grading is compulsory for players wishing to try out for Division 1 or Division 2 teams, unless exceptional circumstances have been advised to the club before grading. We extend this to players who may apply for National Premier League (NPL) exemption in 2019, in case their NPL status changes and they later ask to play for our club. Unless we have seen a player at grading, he will not be placed in a Div 1 team. Players who wish to play Division 1 or Division 2 must attend BOTH sessions for their age cohort.
  • Players who are playing in non-Marist NPL teams are encouraged to grade as well, in case their NPL selection circumstances change during the season and they return to Marist FC. Such players are not guaranteed Division 1 places unless they have graded with Marist FC and team spots are available. We need to see you grade. 'Development' teams are not NPL teams, and as such no exemption is applied. Please note the Marist College Football Exemption and Policy Form for players in NPL teams. All 2019 NPL players MUST submit a this form to the Sports Master, Mr Paul Mead, ASAP.
  • Players grade in their School Year cohort: Year 4 boys grade in U10s; Year 5 in U11s, etc; Year 7 boys grade in U13s etc; Yr 11 and Yr 12 boys grade in U18s (senior) cohorts.
  • Players wishing to play for a Marist U18 team should speak with Mr Charles Bootes (Marist teacher) during school time, as the U18s have a different grading/pre-season schedule.
  • Players wishing to play in Division 3 teams may, but are not required to, attend grading and may request to be in a team with their friends by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
  • Players unable to make one or both grading sessions should contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. outlining their reasons, for a response from the Coaching Coordinator.
  • Mr Charles Bootes and Mr Antony Ceruti are coordinating all U18 grading.
  • Players eligible and wishing to trial for the Marist First XI in 2020 should read the Exemption Policy that requires playing for Marist FC in 2019.
  • The club aims to have teams announced prior to or soon after the Canberra Day long weekend. This will allow teams to get organised, equipment to be issued and training to start before Easter and first-term break.
  • The Capital Football ActewAGL Junior League season starts on the weekend of Saturday 4 May 2019.
